On the night his criminal empire begins to collapse, a Miami drug lord must choose between repeating the mistakes of the past or breaking a generational cycle of abandonment.

After Vice is a visceral action crime drama set in the neon-soaked underworld of 1980s Miami. The story follows Alejandro, a Colombian immigrant who built his empire by profiting off the chaos of the city’s drug wars. Fueled by resentment over being sent away by his mother as a child, Alejandro has spent his life pursuing control, wealth, and power—anything to escape the pain of abandonment. But in doing so, he’s emotionally distanced himself from his own wife and young son.

The film takes place over one night—the night everything falls apart. When a betrayal inside his inner circle exposes him to law enforcement, Alejandro scrambles to escape with his family aboard a private plane. As the police close in, he’s forced to confront the truth: he’s become the very thing he resented in his mother. In a final act of clarity, Alejandro chooses to stop running—not just from the law, but from the emotional legacy that’s defined his life.

Production Overview

After Vice was filmed across three distinct units in two countries and two U.S. states—Miami (FL), Cali (Colombia), and Savannah (GA)—to ground the film’s emotional and visual authenticity. Each location served a vital narrative function: 1980s Miami captured the neon-soaked chaos of Alejandro’s empire, 1950s rural Colombia brought to life the origins of his trauma, and Savannah’s XR stage allowed us to film high-intensity car interiors with full control.

This cross-continental production brought together over 100 collaborators, combining the talents of emerging student filmmakers and seasoned professionals across borders, both cast & crew. We chose this approach because After Vice is a story about migration, memory, and the American Dream—and to do it justice, the journey had to be real.
